How to Apply for Financial Aid

  1. Complete the FAFSA at studentaid.gov.
  2. Enter Aspen Beauty Academy’s school code: 042040.
  3. Meet with our Financial Aid Advisor to review eligibility and required documentation.
  4. Once eligibility is confirmed, review the estimated award package and funding options.
  5. Discuss scholarships or payment plans if needed and sign your award documents.

Federal Financial Aid Programs

Aspen Beauty Academy participates in several federal Title IV programs that help students pay for educational expenses:

  • Federal Pell Grant – Need-based grant that does not have to be repaid. Amounts depend on financial need and enrollment status.
  • Federal Direct Subsidized Loan – Need-based loan; the U.S. Department of Education pays interest while you are in school.
  • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan – Not based on need; you are responsible for interest during all periods.
  • Federal Parent PLUS Loan – Credit-based loan available to parents of dependent students to help pay remaining costs.

Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and meet all eligibility requirements to receive or continue receiving federal aid.

Veterans Education Benefits

We proudly accept VA Education Benefits for eligible veterans, active duty service members, and their dependents. Qualifying programs include:

  • Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
  • Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty (Chapter 30)
  • Montgomery GI Bill® – Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606)
  • Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35)
  • Veteran Readiness & Employment (Chapter 31)
  • Transferred GI Bill® Benefits and Fry Scholarship

To apply, visit VA.gov and complete VA Form 22-1990 or 22-1995. Our financial aid office can help you navigate certification and benefit processing.

State and Special Programs

Maryland residents may qualify for additional funding through state or specialized programs:

  • Jack F. Tolbert Memorial Student Grant – Up to $500 per year (renewable once) for eligible Maryland residents attending approved private career schools. Apply by March 1 each year using the FAFSA and the Tolbert Grant application.
  • DORS (Division of Rehabilitation Services) – Offers tuition assistance and support services for students with documented disabilities preparing for employment.
  • MyCAA (My Career Advancement Account) – Provides up to $4,000 in tuition assistance to eligible military spouses pursuing portable career training programs.

Contact the Financial Aid Office for guidance and required forms for these programs.

Interest-Free Payment Plans

Aspen Beauty Academy offers flexible, interest-free payment plans for students who do not receive full financial aid coverage or choose to supplement aid with direct payments. Plans can be customized based on program length and remaining balance.

  • No credit check required
  • Equal monthly payments
  • No late fees when payments are made on schedule

Scholarships

Aspen Beauty Academy encourages students to apply for external and internal scholarships that recognize talent, leadership, and community involvement. Scholarships can reduce out-of-pocket costs and may be combined with other financial aid.

  • Industry scholarships from Pivot Point, Wella, MUD Cosmetics, and other partners
  • Community or nonprofit scholarships (Beauty Changes Lives, Horatio Alger, etc.)
  • School-specific awards periodically announced throughout the year
