Financial Aid Options

Financial support is just one part of your journey—but it can make all the difference. Whether you qualify for grants, secure a scholarship, or choose an interest-free plan, we’ll help you build a plan that fits your dream and your budget.

TITLE IV Federal Financial Aid

Aspen Beauty Academy participates in several Title IV Federal Financial Aid Programs for students who qualify. These options provide valuable funding that helps cover tuition, fees, and supplies.

Pell Grant A need-based grant that does not need to be repaid. Award amounts are determined by your FAFSA application and enrollment status. It is typically awarded to undergraduate students without a bachelor’s or professional degree. Note: Pell Grants can only be received from one school at a time.

Direct Subsidized Loan A low-interest federal loan for eligible undergraduate students with financial need. Your school determines the amount you can borrow, and the amount may not exceed your financial need. The U.S. Department of Education pays the interest while you’re in school and during the grace and deferment periods.

Direct Unsubsidized Loan Available to undergraduate and graduate students; there is no requirement to demonstrate financial need. Your school determines the amount you can borrow based on your cost of attendance and other financial aid you receive. You are responsible for paying the interest on a Direct Unsubsidized Loan during all periods.

Parent PLUS Loan Direct PLUS loans can help pay for education expenses not covered by other financial aid. It is a credit-based loan available to parents of dependent students. Parents may borrow up to the full cost of attendance, minus any other aid received.

Veterans Education Benefits

Aspen Beauty Academy is approved to train veterans and eligible dependents.

  • Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33): Covers tuition, housing, books, and supplies for veterans with qualifying post-9/11 service.
  • Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (Chapter 30): Monthly payments for veterans with at least two years of active duty.
  • Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606): Supports reservists and National Guard members with a six-year commitment.
  • Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35): Aids spouses and children of certain deceased or disabled veterans.
  • Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31): Provides education and job training for veterans with service-connected disabilities.
  • Transferred GI Bill Benefits: Allows service members to transfer Post-9/11 benefits to spouses or children.
  • Fry Scholarship: Supports children and spouses of deceased veterans with up to 36 months of benefits.

These options can often be combined (up to 48 months, except VR&E) and complement the school’s payment plans. Apply via VA.gov or consult a Veterans Service Officer for eligibility details.

State and Special Programs

Jack F. Tolbert Memorial Student Grant The Jack F. Tolbert Memorial Student Grant provides up to $500 per year (renewable once) for Maryland residents with financial need. Eligible students must be enrolled full-time (at least 18 clock hours/week). Funding is not guaranteed. Visit mhec.maryland.gov for details.

MyCAA (My Career Advancement Account) MyCAA offers up to $4,000 ($2,000/year) in tuition assistance for military spouses of active-duty service members. Apply via mycaa.militaryonesource.mil, verify eligibility, create an Education and Training Plan with a SECO coach, and request funding for approved programs.

Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) Eligibility requires a disability that impacts employment and a need for DORS services. Visit dors.maryland.gov for more information.
