Curriculum Overview

At Aspen Beauty Academy – Laurel, our 1500-hour Cosmetology Program offers a comprehensive education in various beauty disciplines including hair, skincare, makeup, lashes, brows, and nails. Students engage in practical training and work with clients to enhance their skills in a supportive environment.

What You’ll Learn (in various levels of detail)

  • Haircutting & Styling: precision cuts, layers, blowouts, thermal styling, and updos

  • Texture Services: perms, relaxers, curl reformation, and smoothing treatments including keratin

  • Hair Color: gray coverage, highlights, dimensional color, and color correction basics

  • Wigs & Extensions: safe installation, blending, and maintenance (multiple methods)

  • Skincare: skin analysis, facials, hair removal, and product knowledge

  • Makeup + Lashes/Brows: makeup application, brow tinting, lash extensions, lifts, and brow lamination

  • Nails: manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, and UV gel

  • Professional Development: State Board prep and salon business

Industry Certifications & Brand Training

  • MUD Beauty Essentials: Maryland’s only MUD partner school—earn a MUD Level I certificate

  • Sugarlash PRO: certifications in Classic Lashes, Lash Lifts, and Brow Lamination

  • Brow Code: professional brow tinting training

  • Dermalogica: professional skincare training

  • Wella Professionals: hands-on color training + Wella certification

  • OPI: OPI nail certification

Hands-On Client Experience

Our program focuses on practical salon skills. With guidance from licensed professionals and real-world practice with diverse clients, you will enhance your abilities and gain experience in working with various hair types and skin tones. This approach is essential for your development as you prepare for a career in the salon industry, refining your techniques and cultivating consistent habits in a supportive environment.
